Plant Operation Courses Updated
The Plant Operation courses now reflect up-to-date working practices and amendments in legislation as well as technical modifications to the machinery used. Examples of changes include the removal of any reference to Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS), as the Lantra Awards Level 2 Certificate in Specialised Plant and Machinery Operations is no longer aligned to the CPCS card. Course materials have also been updated as a result of these changes.
Lesley Barr, Head of Product Development at Lantra Awards said: “Serious Plant Operations accidents can and do occur without proper training, but used correctly, these are very versatile machines with a wide variety of uses. Even the most experienced drivers can find themselves in hazardous and potentially dangerous situations, so it is vital to ensure they are trained to the required standard.
“Lantra Awards has many years’ experience of developing training courses of the highest standards. The Plant Operations courses are delivered exclusively through a network of approved registered training providers and instructors, so learners will be trained by people who are qualified and experienced with plant operations machinery.”
Revised courses include:
• Ride-On Roller
• Dump Truck
• Forward Tipping Dumper
• 360° Excavator above 10 tonnes
• 360° Excavator below 10 tonnes
• 180° Excavators
• Skid Steer Loader
• Loading Shovel
As a result of these changes the approved instructor skills register has also been updated, removing course codes that are no longer available. In addition the operator assessment forms have been rebranded with the new corporate logo, these will be used when stocks of the existing forms have run out.
