Who is it For?

Our courses are suitable for anyone working in forestry or arboriculture and any one who may use on occasion a chainsaw or work at height in trees.

Why Train?

Used correctly, chainsaws and allied cutting equipment are very versatile tools with a variety of uses. Aerial tree work is an essential part of arboricultural work. But these activities are also potentially very dangerous.

Between April 1 2000 and 31 March 2011 HSE state that 50 people have lost their lives as a result of tree work activities and many more have been injured. These accidents can occur due to inproper training, no training or because operators have not kept their skills up-to-date.

What’s more, the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) require employers to provide adequate training and to ensure that chainsaws and related equipment are operated only by employees who have received appropriate training.

Anyone working in or on trees is expected to have a recognised QCF qualification (certificate of competence). Training is a legal requirement of employers, including those that are self employed.

So whether you want to get training to give your career a boost or keep your employees safe, Lantra Awards can help.
