Why Do I Need Training?
Working in the forestry and arboriculture industry can be extremely dangerous; chainsaws and allied cutting equipment when used correctly are very versatile tools with a variety of uses but without proper training accidents can happen. By undertaking a Lantra Awards training course / qualification you can demonstrate your skills and knowledge as well as work safely.
What’s more, the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) require employers to provide adequate training and to ensure that chainsaws and related equipment are operated only by employees who have received appropriate training.
Anyone working in or on trees is expected to have a recognised QCF qualification (certificate of competence). Training is a legal requirement of employers, including those that are self employed.
