National Highways Sector Schemes are quality management schemes designed to ensure a properly trained and competent workforce in the UK's highways industry.

They specify what training you must have to ensure you can work safely and to the highest standard in traffic management, and:

• Provide an industry benchmark

• Provide a basis for continuous improvement

• Focus on quality

The Development of Sector Schemes

Sector Schemes are developed within an ISO 9001:2000 framework in partnership with key organisations in the highways industry.

Each Sector Scheme is managed by a technical advisory committee that agrees the minimum levels of workmanship, services, products, testing and the training and competency of operatives to meet the standards. These are detailed in the individual Sector Schemes documents which can be found on the UKAS website.
 

Lantra Awards Training to Support Sector Schemes

Lantra Awards is the administrator for and offers training and qualifications that support the following Sector Schemes:

12B	Sector Scheme for static temporary traffic management on motorways and high speed dual carriageways for schemes not incorporating contraflow operations and/or temporary road markings.
12C	Sector Scheme for Mobile Lane Closure Traffic Management on Motorways and Other Dual Carriageways
12D	Sector Scheme for Installing, Maintaining and Removing Temporary Traffic Management on Rural and Urban Roads
