David began his professional working career in 1979 on an arable, beef and sheep farm on the island of Anglesey in North Wales otherwise known as Môn Mam Cymru (Anglesey, Mother of Wales). During that time he attended a number of Agricultural Training Board (ATB), courses including ploughing, welding, planting, sheep shearing to name but a few!

He left Wales in 1987 and worked for a number of years as a Trials Officer for ADAS in the South East of England at one of the leading research and development centres in the country at that time. In 1995 David was appointed Technical Officer for NPTC a QCA approved Awarding Body and was heavily involved in the development and redevelopment of proficiency tests the majority of which were then re developed and submitted to the regulatory body the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) as accredited Certificates of Competence.

In 2003, David joined the Lantra Awards team as Business Development Manager overseeing fork lift truck, plant machinery, pesticides, abrasive wheels, and health and safety courses and qualifications the aim being in line with that of other Business Development Managers; to ensure a responsive, high quality, cost effective and consistent national standard of training that is appropriate to industrys needs.
