Firearms > Introduction to Safe Shooting with Shotguns

Aim: to provide a thorough, structured introduction to the safe use and handling of shotguns. Only too often are tragic and needless accidents reported in the media due to misuse and handling of shotguns.

Clay target shooting and live quarry shooting are becoming increasingly popular, generating increased income into rural areas. It is an activity which can be experienced and enjoyed by a broad range of people of differing age, gender and size.

The training package provided is initially to provide knowledge in the safe use and handling of shotguns. It is aimed at providing skills to people who not only enjoy shooting as a leisure activity, but, also to those who are carrying-out valuable pest and predator control within rural areas and is inclusive to both youngsters and adults. It is predominantly based at people who either live or work in the countryside that do not wish to gain advanced coaching skills or advanced marksmanship techniques, but, do need to acquire competent fieldcraft skills, whilst enabling themselves and other land users to remain safe.
