Firearms Use and Preliminary Safety (Shotgun) – Level 1
This is a Level 1 course and very little or no previous knowledge or experience is expected of candidates. Candidates may progress to target or live quarry forms of shooting, either
recreationally or linked to a basic work role requirement.
Age requirements
The minimum age to enroll on this course is 16.
Content
At the end of the course, each candidate will have been given the information enabling them
to:
- Introduction
- The shotgun
- The shotgun cartridge
- Legislation and the use of shotguns
- Cleaning and maintenance
- Basic health and safety and shotgun use
- Shotgun – safe handling and use (practical)
- The storage and transportation of shotguns
- The benefits of shooting sports
Course Duration
1 day: split equally between the classroom and the shooting ground.
