Fox Control (Centre Fire Rifle) Level 2
Lantra Awards Firearms courses require candidates to have some experience of wildlife management and
firearms awareness. Shoot management, pest control and farming interests are likely to be
represented.
Who the course is for
Candidates should have the understanding and ability to operate and use appropriate equipment within a suitable working environment, in a manner which promotes and maintains the highest standards of operational safety. It should be impressed on candidates that only experience and practice will enable them to manage a firearm and operate safely in a range of wildlife management situations and avoid undue risks.
Am I eligible?
The minimum age to enroll on this course is 16.

- Firearms legislation (sporting rifle)
- Set-up, ballistics and maintenance
- Fox behaviour and life history
- Fox control – planning and application
- Principles of marksmanship
- Use of vehicle
- Health and safety planning – applied risk assessment
- Activity records and recording procedures
- Assessing land for rifle use
- Night shooting assessment
- Practical range assessment
