NVQ/SVQ Questions

Where can I get this training?
The qualification is not training, it is assessment of competence only. Training may however be offered by centres to support the qualification. Please refer to the list of approved centres for the qualification type required.

How much does the NVQ or SVQ cost?
The registration fee is what we charge to centres, they will add on additional assessment fees. Please therefore discuss this with a range of the assessment centres directly.

How long does the qualification take?
Assessment is carried on-site over a period of time. This usually takes between 3 months and 9 months but can take up to 18 months/2 years depending upon the skills of the candidate and the type of work they have access to. There is however a minimum period of 10 weeks between the Centre registering a candidate and claiming their certificate ? this is a requirement of the regulatory bodies QCA and SQA.

What does the course involve?
The NVQ or SVQ is not a course, it is a qualification assessed on-site by qualified Assessors who then help the candidate build up a portfolio of evidence which proves the candidate?s competence against National Occupational Standards. The centre then internally verifies the portfolio and then claims the qualification certificate on behalf of the candidate. The benefit of NVQ/SVQs is that the candidate is usually assessed carrying out their daily work operations, and so not taken away from their job in order to obtain the qualification.

Replacement NVQ/SVQ Certificates
The charge for replacements is 15.00+VAT (17.63). We require a written request confirming the candidate name, date of birth and personal address and the reason for the replacement. The replacement will be marked Replacement Certificate, this is a requirement for all regulated qualifications, unless the original certificate is returned to Lantra Awards.
