QUICK HITCH DEVICES

QUICK HITCH DEVICES – Guidance for Existing Plant Machine Operators

There have been a number of incidents in recent months regarding the use of quick hitch devices, many of these having been highlighted in the construction trade press.

The Health and Safety Executive have produced a guidance note ‘Safe use of quick hitch devices on excavators (SIM 02/2007/01 Version 2)’.

In addition to the HSE information, the Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) along with Construction Skills have developed additional supporting training guidance relating to connecting and disconnecting attachments using quick hitch coupling systems.

Whilst the guidance has been drafted in the context of construction, it is equally as applicable to the land-based industry.
