NEW QCF FENCING DIPLOMAS APPROVED
Lantra Awards are pleased to announce that the new Level 2 Diploma in Fencing; Level 2 Diploma in Fencing - Vehicle Safety and Level 3 Diploma in Fencing have now been approved by QCA and will sit within the new Qualifications and Credit Framework from August 1st 2008. This is a very exciting development for both Lantra Awards and the Fencing Industry and enables the fencing Qualifications to be at the forefront of the new credit based framework which has an essential role in the Government?s qualification reform programme.
Whilst these Qualifications replace the existing NVQs in Fencing; they still meet all current requirements for the NVQ's and the units of assessment are mapped directly to the national occupational standards and the related assessment strategy for fencing as agreed between the industry group and Lantra Sector Skills Council.
In accordance with QCA approved practice; all learners currently registered on the existing qualifications will be able to complete their current NVQ. Learners will have two years to complete Level 2 and 3 years to complete Level 3.
Please note that these developments are not a part of the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework. SVQ's have been updated and new Centre Guidance is available from Lantra Awards.
New Centre Guidance is available and has been sent to all approved Centres and it is expected that the next provider meeting will enable a full discussion around the management of these Diplomas. However; in the meantime; if any centre would like our Qualifications Manager; Cathy Riley or Qualifications Co-ordinator, Lesley Colvin to meet with them in order to explore how the Diplomas will work in practice please don't hesitate to request a centre visit/meeting.
