Lord Heseltine launches National Highways SSD18
The National Highways Sector Scheme Document 18 (SSD18) for Landscape and the Environment was officially launched in September by the Rt Hon The Lord Heseltine.
SSD18 has been developed for grounds management, landscaping and tree surgery professionals by the Highways Agency in consultation with industry organisations, training providers and certification bodies, including Lantra Awards, BALI and NPTC.
Sector Scheme Document 18 is a bespoke management system for landscaping and the environment which is a contractual requirement for organisations engaged by the Highways Agency in England, Transport Wales, Transport Scotland and Road Service Northern Ireland highway estates.

Lord Heseltine was invited to launch the new scheme because of his lifelong interest in the industry which included his involvement with the National Garden Festivals of the 80s and early 90s.
