UK Landskills Intermediate winners announced

Lantra Awards' Chairman Jonathan Swift awards Intermediate Gold winners Capel Manor College during Saltex on the 10 September 2009.

Organised by Bali and sponsored by Lantra Awards the event attracted hundreds of spectators over the three days the show was open.

The Intermediate Competition finalists and winners were

  • Gold: Capel Manor College, Middlesex:
  • Silver: CAFRE (College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise), Northern Ireland
  • Bronze: Oatridge College, Edinburgh
  • Runners-up: Otley College, Ipswich

The four teams were given 22 hours to build a garden designed by Andy Sturgeon, an RHS multi-gold winning award medallist.

Competitors are ultimately trying win a place in Team UK who represent the UK in WorldSkills - an International Competition which happens every 2 years involving 50 countries, 40 competitions, 1200 competitors and 250,000 spectators. At WorldSkills Shizuoka 2007, Team UK came 11th overall and the Landscape Gardening team won a Medallion of Excellence.
