Changes to Pesticide Regulations

The Home Office are introducing policy to regulate the sale and improve security in the use of metallic phosphide, poison used to control vermin and a new industry body has been set up RAMPs (Register and Accreditation of Metallic Phophide) to regulate the use of the poison.

As of the 1st September 2011 any person wishing to purchase or use metallic phosphide must be suitably qualified. Lantra Awards certification in Rodent - including the Aluminium Phosphide and Rabbit & Mole control is acceptable at suppliers with the exception of Killgerm who no longer recognise our training and assessment.

As from January 2015 it will be necessary for anyone handling metallic phosphide to be able to demonstrate they have a suitable qualification at the point of sale in order to purchase AIP products such Phostoxin and Talunex. Lantra Awards are currently in discussion with RAMPs to develop a recognised qualification to meet this requirement.

We will keep you informed of progress of any changes in relation to Pesticides.
