Train the Trainer Technical Update events
Three technical updates were delivered to registered Lantra Awards instructors and NPTC assessors for chainsaw and aerial tree work in July. The events took place at Kirkley Hall, Northumberland, Reaseheath College, Cheshire and Merrist Wood College, Surrey, on the 18th, 20th and 25th July.
Although attendance at the events was not mandatory, they were very well attended - approximately two thirds of the instructor / assessor network came to the updates. Delegates were given the choice of attending split sessions either in 'ground based chainsaw' or 'aerial tree work' with some joint sessions aimed at all delegates. The events featured a quiz with the highest scoring competitors receiving Stihl and Lantra Awards sponsored prizes.
A copy of the quiz paper, complete with all the correct answers, is available as a PDF to view or download at the foot of this page.
The events were organised by Lantra Awards, part sponsored by STIHL GB, and delivered by the Stihl Technical team with Treevolution delivering the aerial tree work sessions. We would like to express our sincere thanks to all those that worked so hard to make these events so successful.
This series of updates was a new venture for us and responded to feedback from the more conventional format of Annual Update events in recent years. We have received some very useful and constructive feedback from the events on how we can develop this type of event in the future.
Those Lantra Awards registered chainsaw instructors who did not attend one of these events, will be contacted soon with details of update events later in the year - which will be mandatory in order for them to remain registered and these will be run by TSVs as in previous years.
