TECHNICAL AWARDS > Pesticides > Pest Control
Vermin infestation can afflict the best-run businesses, and dealing with it effectively requires knowledge and skill. Because many of the treatments involve the use of poisonous substances, it is essential that vermin control is carried out by people who have received proper training. Training is a legal requirement. Use of pesticides is governed by the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 1999 (COSHH) and the Food and Environment Protection Act 1985 (FEPA). The regulations require employers to ensure that pesticides are applied only by employees who have received appropriate training in their safe use. If you are self-employed, the regulations still apply.
One-stop training and assessment
Our Vermin Control courses provide both training and assessment, so that at the end of the course you know whether you have reached the Lantra Awards standard. If you are successful you will be awarded not only a Certificate of Basic Training, but also a nationally recognised Skills ID Card stating your competence to practice vermin control, together with any other Lantra Awards courses you may have already successfully completed.
