Level 2 Diploma in Fencing

Level 2 Diploma in Fencing QCF (Including Vehicle safety fencing)

Introduction

The Level 2 Diploma in Fencing, a competency based Qualification is based on national standards which reflect the working practices of fencing operatives. The standards were developed by a group representing employers, fencing manufacturers and contractors, training organisations and other organisations with an interest in fencing, such as the Highways Agency and Railtrack.

Who is this course aimed at?

The Level 2 Diploma in Fencing is primarily designed for fencing operatives and may also be offered to learners in the 16-19 age group. The health and Safety at Work ect Act 1974 requires employers to ensure the health, safety and welfare of their employees at work and for training providers to safeguard learners. Young people under the age of 18 can be exposed to risk when using work equipment due to immaturity, lack of experience or lack of awareness of existing or potential risks. Therefore, young people in this age group will need close supervision.

The Qualification will enhance the ability of personnel to work safely, effectively and efficiently in the work place, reducing unnecessary risks to themselves and others.

What are the objectives of this course?

The qualification aims to give learners the opportunity to develop their skills and demonstrate competence across the full range of activities that fencing operatives need to be able to do as part of their everyday work. This course is also the major requirement for the Blue FISS CSCS card.

What does this course involve?

The qualification allows learners to select units which apply to work in general fencing and or vehicle safety fencing. The unitised structure of the qualification also enables continuing professional development activities to be evidenced and certificated for those learners who may not require the full diploma.

On this course you will develop

The knowledge and skills required to carry out the work of a fencing operative, and a portfolio of evidence to show competency within your chosen specialism, general or vehicle safety fencing.
