Fencing Business Management Level 4

The N/SVQ in Fencing Business Management level 4 is based on national standards developed by an industry group representing employers, fencing manufacturers and contractors, training organisations, and other organisations with an interest in fencing, such as Highways Agency and Railtrack.

Who is the qualification for:

The design of the qualification allows candidates to specialise in specific aspects of management such as quality, health and safety, and customer relations within a fencing context.

In addition, achievement of the qualification will support candidates applications to register for platinum status within the FISSICSCS sector scheme.

2 Qualification routes

In order to achieve the full qualification candidates must complete all 6 mandatory units plus 6 optional units (total 12 units).

2a Mandatory units:
  • Unit 1 Provide a safe, healthy and secure working environment within the Land-based Sector
  • Unit 2 Identify areas of improvement for your self and others working in the Land-based Sector
  • Unit 3 Plan work methods, resources and systems to meet fencing installation project requirement
  • Unit 4 Implement works to meet construction and installation project requirements
  • Unit 5 Conduct an assessment of risk in the workplace
  • Unit 6 Promote the importance and benefits of quality

2b Optional units:

  • Unit 7 Control fencing installation contract work
  • Unit 8 Identify and maintain supplies of materials to meet fencing project requirements
  • Unit 9 Develop, negotiate and agree proposals to offer land-based services and products
  • Unit 10 Promote the land-based organisation and its values
  • Unit 11 Maintain and improve customer relationships within the Land-based Sector
  • Unit 12 Monitor procedures to control risks to health and safety (ENTO)
  • Unit 13 Develop procedures to control risks to health and safety
  • Unit 14 Promote a health and safety culture within the workplace
  • Unit 15 Investigate and evaluate incidents and complaints in the workplace
  • Unit 16 Facilitate meetings
  • Unit 17 Provide advice and support for the development and implementation of quality policies
  • Unit 18 Manage continuous quality improvement
  • Unit 19 Implement quality assurance systems
  • Unit 20 Provide advice and support for the development and implementation of quality systems
  • Unit 21 Monitor compliance with quality systems
  • Unit 22 Carry out quality audits
  • Unit 23 Contribute to improving environmental performance during work activities
