VRQs - ADVANCED CERTIFICATE IN VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT
Summary Information
Who can do the qualification?
Developed in association with leading voluntary organisations, the Advanced Certificate in Volunteer Management is suitable for anyone who manages volunteers either in a voluntary or paid capacity.
What does the qualification comprise?
The course consists of five units:
- Unit 1 Understanding volunteering and volunteer policies
- Unit 2 Integrating volunteers into your organisation
- Unit 3 Planning the work of volunteers
- Unit 4 Working with volunteers
- Unit 5 Improving management of volunteers
How is the qualification assessed?
The qualification is assessed by a single project (case study) sent to Lantra Awards and marked by an external Examiner. Materials to support assessment are sent to learners who register for the qualification. Learners should normally complete the project within nine months of registration.
Who can offer the qualification?
As well as large providers such as colleges, organisations such as those in the voluntary sector can register as a centre with Lantra Awards. This means that small voluntary organisations can offer the qualification to the appropriate member(s) of staff/volunteers within their organisation.
Do I have to do a training course?
Not if you feel that you already have the skills required. If you do require training there are a range of options available to you:
- Contact Lantra Awards who will advise you of your nearest provider
- Enrol on the learndirect Managing Volunteers course and study on-line (see below)
- The National Centre for Volunteering, in association with AM Training offers training in volunteer management. Information on courses offered by AM Training can be found at http://www.amtraining.co.uk/
On-line learning
Learners can register with learndirect who offer an on-line/distance learning course called Managing Volunteers. This course is based upon the same national occupational standards as the Advanced Certificate in Volunteer Management. Completion of the optional end of module assignments covers some of the work required for the project (case study). For more information click here .
