Vocational Qualifications (VQs) are qualifications located either within the National Qualifications Framework or the Qualifications and Credit Framework. They are related to employment but do not necessarily require work placement in the same way that an S/NVQ might. This means that people can undertake training and practice for a different job or a new career, or they may train to advance within their current occupation.
These types of credit-based qualifications can enable learners to develop their knowledge; understanding and practice at an appropriate level which suits their own particular needs and circumstances. Lantra Awards is an approved awarding body for this type of qualification.
Are these Qualifications fundable?
Centres approved for direct funding by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) may be able to claim funding for any qualifications listed on the National Database of Approved Qualifications (NDAQ) and the Learning Aims Database.
Nationally recognised qualifications are all eligible for government funding but are not guaranteed funding unless supported or identified as priorities within Sector Qualifications Strategies developed by the relevant Sector Skills Councils.
For clear guidance on whether specific provision will be funded you are advised to contact your local Learning and Skills Council for advice and guidance http://www.lsc.gov.uk/
